What is a WARP? - Sensible ICT Security
WARPs are part of the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure's (CPNI) information sharing strategy to help combat the increasing risk of electronic attack on our information systems. WARPs have been shown to be effective in improving information security by stimulating better communication of alerts and warnings, improving awareness and education, and encouraging incident reporting. Membership of a WARP can also reduce the costs of good Security.
The West Midlands Council WARP was launched in November 2006. The WMCWARP service is part of the overall West Midlands Council work programme.
The local government WARP for the West Midlands is managed in association with the University of Wolverhampton within the National e-Crime Prevention centre. It has been developed with funding sourced through ODPM by West Midlands Council, the Regional Transformational Government Partnership in the West Midlands, which is itself cited within the West Midlands Local Government Association.
